Hmmm do you think so? The UK tends to disregard human rights! I do think it will have an impact on the willingness of other countries to employ similar DNA database tho…

Well the decision of the UK Courts to support the retention of samples from those found innocent was unique across Europe ... The argumentation in the House of Lords case was also not very good and several influential reports, including the Nuffield Report on forensic information, advised that this was questionable practice. As far as I read the UK has has a committee in place looking at the consequences of this verdict for a while. However, judging by the response of the police and Ministers in the UK, this could also be an interesting case study on the influence of the case-law of the ECtHR.
